Village for Vets fills critical gaps in services for homeless and at-risk Veterans in Los Angeles County to support them on their journey to stability and independence. With growing demand for Veteran housing and support services in Los Angeles County, our organization has become a critical lifeline for unhoused and at-risk Veterans. The work of

 Village for Vets now connects 2,500 Veterans and their families to transformative services annually.  Village for Vets delivers individualized, housing-focused case management and supportive services to foster self-sufficiency among unhoused and at-risk Veterans in Los Angeles County. By prioritizing the unique needs and goals of each Veteran household, w coordinate care across the region to remove barriers and support pathways to stable housing. The Robert Nelson Foundation recently provided a $5,000.00 grant to Village for Vets to support the great work they are doing.

The Robert Nelson Foundation is honored to support the School on Wheels program of Los Angeles. School on Wheels (SOW) has remained steadfast in its mission: to enhance the educational opportunities ofK-12 children experiencing homelessness—those living in shelters, motels, group foster homes, campgrounds, vehicles, or on the streets. We are the only organization in greater Los Angeles exclusively dedicated to removing the unique and often overwhelming barriers to learning faced by unhoused children—barriers that, if left unaddressed, place them at extreme risk of remaining trapped in poverty. We serve children across six Southern California counties. Among the most urgent areas we serve is Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles, where hundreds of children and families live in shelters, or in severely unsafe environments such as abandoned buildings, tents, and vehicles. Our Skid Row Learning Center (SRLC) offers an oasis of safety, stability, and encouragement. Every day, 50–60 students gather at the Center for homework help, computer access, enrichment programs, and, most importantly, one-on-one attention from compassionate tutors who are deeply invested in their educational progress and personal growth.ort the wonderful work they are doing. The RNF foundation recently provided a $5,000.00 gift to support the important and wonderful work that School on Wheels is doing every day. Thank you School on Wheels for making such a difference!

In response to the wildfire crisis in Los Angeles, The Robert Nelson Foundation was able to provide a $30,000.00 gift to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and $20,000 directly to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The funds will go directly to the front-line fire stations. Thank you to the wonderful men and women fighting these fires to save lives and communities. The foundation was also able to contribute an additional $45,000 to various nonprofit organizations within Los Angeles helping those who need it most during this very trying time. Children of the Night is a privately funded non-profit organization established in 1979 with the specific purpose to provide intervention in the lives of children who are sexually exploited and vulnerable to or involved in prostitution and pornography. The Robert Nelson Foundation is honored to have recently provided a $5,000 grant to assist Children of the Night in their efforts. 

The Region III Transition Program is a special education program that serves young adults ages18-21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Grandville, MI. The focus of the program is to develop functional life skills for students within the domestic, community, and pre-employment settings.

The Robert Nelson Foundation provided a $5,000 grant to The Region III Transition Program to assist the program in developing a prevocational training opportunity for the students. The project will enable the students to develop a classroom business that will help these special needs students develop confidence, communication skills, as well as responsibility as they move towards independence. The foundation is honored to assist in this great endeavor.

The Robert Nelson Foundation provided a $5,000.00 grant to assist the Hand2Hand Ministries program fighting childhood hunger in West Michigan. The grant will enable the program to develop further programming for the students as they bridge the gap for summer and prepare for another school year. The foundation applauds the efforts of this organization for prioritizing childhood hunger. Thank you to all of the staff and volunteers that make this happen for these students.
